◈ P E R S O N A L I T Y :

contemptuous/arrogant/confident | hedonistic | tired/numb---hungry | curious/epistemophile/wise---oblivious | actor/eloquent/charming---quiet | apathetic---concerner/lecturer | open-minded | resilient | tolerant---sadistic

contemptuous / arrogant
confident

Performing feeds his arrogance, for he enjoys seeing the audience subject to his magic. It satiates him to be able to indirectly manipulate their emotions, to show them the supposed vastness of his knowledge and power over the non-magical. Despite his contempt towards humans, he is in some way, admiring of them...even envious. His arrogance and pride are the only things refraining him from following a similar fate to the ones of his two brothers (who chose to place their immortal bodies in a state of eternal slumber).
His arrogance feeds his confidence. Little does he doubt his abilities, often proceeding situations with a carefully calculated mindset.

hedonistic

Be it sex, songs, poems, Rafit loves the pleasure in many small things; anything to spark his tired mind.

tired / numb
hungry

Many years passing would make the mind decay in some way. One's mind would feel as if it is suspended, numbed. He is tired, when simple life places a somber solemn note on one's mind. With mundane everyday things, he will find little excitement to stimulate his mind. Living many years has curbed him of his ability to feel strong emotions. He enjoys playing music yet it is still not enough to soothe him for unfortunately, he is not able to feel the emotional influence of his music.
Therefore, he is hungry, seeking knowledge for stimulation. Problems, puzzles, riddles an be examples of such. Times delving in lust or arrogance, are probably the only times he can easily experience emotions.

curious / epistemophile / wise

oblivious

He hungers for knowledge, specifically stories and songs, learning new things to be utilized in his performances. Learning new things will make him feel young again, as if he is relearning the world once more, experiencing newfound curiosities. He will also seek 'slip ups' from others, telling him of one's weakness/fears then he can have them later 'play to his song' if needs be (all another form of entertainment/stimulation).
He will not be 'up to date' with current humour, not seeing the funny side to jokes and pranks. Even sarcasm, he is not able to understand. Sometimes, he will frown or just stand there clueless, but there are times that he will take offense from it. If a joke or prank is taken too far, one will have to expect whiplash.

actor / eloquent / charming (when he wants to be)
quiet

A creature of the arts, it is not surprising that he is a skilled actor, mastering his expressions and words despite the many dislikeable thoughts in his head. If such thoughts were to be made known, it would certainly prove troublesome for him. His words can be (//underlines 'can' because let's see how I will cope) be quite eloquent, poetic in a sense. He will be charming when he wants something and can be charming when courting/flirting. He will also seek amusing things.
Since he is one who focuses on listening most of the time, he is a man of few words, unless of course he wants something. He will only speak when he finds necessary or when he finds something of interest.

apathetic ( to some extent )
concerned / lecturer

It is hard to garner pity from him, unless of course he pities you for being foolish. His contempt certainly leads to him bearing a lack of empathy towards people as well as the long life making him carefree as it has made him stop caring/bothering with 'measly things'. To him, there are larger things of importance one should worry about as one can't burden their short lived heart with temporary things.
Despite being apathetic, he will help people to feed his own arrogance. His feeling of superiority will make him feel like he is in the position to lecture one on one's way of living like the old man he is. He worries in some way about how people live their lives for it irks him to see them waste it. There is still some form of duty ingrained in him since his making, so there will be some part of him that will be protective. There was a point in his life when he wasn't so unfeeling, so there are slight chances he will be able to warm towards people.

open-minded

He isn't open-minded in the empathetic sense, but more that he is one to not easily feel surprise (at least with small things). He will not judge one for their fetishes or kinks for he too enjoys a range of pleasures. He has seen many things and it has affected him thus. He'll refrain from first impression judgements, unless of course he is provoked.

resilient

He can adapt to situations quite well (unfortunately not with the times though lol) and will rarely panic.

tolerant
sadistic

He can be tolerant to people's behaviours...of course to some extent for if such behaviours are constantly directed to him or if he was in a previously pleasant mood, he wouldn't find any form of patience for it.
However, once the limit has been exceeded, he can show quite the sadistic personality. There are times when he will end up at a point where his actions will no longer be restrained by sanity and he will gain a tunnel-visioned mindset.

◈ H I S T O R Y :

   ( b r i e f i n g : )
*When he came into being, he was a fully fledged adult. He was designated the name Kairav. Created by the Gods, he and his brothers (fellow Gandharvas created at the same time) were given the duty as messengers. Such simple life it was, until of course before the ever stubborn nature of humans and the strain of immortality began to take its toll. Despite the many messages and teachings of the Gods, only a select few humans were listening. Countlessly, human repeated their same mistakes, taking little heed.

*As a form of distraction, Kairav formed a union with an Apsara named Dhuni. It was time when he followed her to the banquets of gods. Whilst he danced and entertained, he played his music. She was extremely beautiful, like many of the Apsaras, she lived a frivolous life. She wasn't bound to duty as he was. Whilst he protected the humans, Dhuni played with them, relishing as they fell to insanity under her beauty. She would love witnessing them fall sway to her charms, to fight over her attention. It was soon before Kairav too, was enticed by the excitement his wife promised. Her laughter and ease was contagious. There was beauty in a relationship such as theirs. An Apsara dancing to a Gandharva's tune. The fleeting pleasures to counteract the duty-bound seriousness of the battle-worn. They were opposites yet shared many a thing, even lovers on occasion. They would quench their thirst, their desires with others and would return to each others arms by the end of the day.

*However, after a millennia, Dhuni too, felt the growing burden wearing upon her. Kairav could do little but watch his wife wither. Her actions towards human grew more harmful, more violent, as she was hungering for new emotions, new experiences...anything. Kairav took it upon himself to seek something for her...for himself too. He was as she was, yet was resilient enough to withstand the potent effects of the hunger of monotony. Dhuni was a flower, beautiful yet vulnerable, fragile.

*Kairav began his travels. He journeyed far in search for things that could satiate his wife, his beloved. He came across many wondrous things: new music, words, instruments. Yet they were of little use to his wife, for only a Gandharva could employ them into his songs. Kairav witnessed exotic dances, yet spiriting away the humans was futile for he could not comprehend their needs. He would feed them the food he had at hand, flower nectar, not knowing that such was insufficient. Even as he finally gave them food they were used to, it was still hopeless. Humans were vulnerable, easily susceptible to emotions such as loneliness, homesickness. Their minds were fragile like Dhuni's, if not even more so.

*Eventually Kairav found a human girl, a girl who danced for money on the streets, Riya. Originally, he wouldn't have chosen someone so plain, so ordinary for Dhuni, yet his desperation called. Riya had little to lose, so readily accepted Kairav's offer.

*Travelling to the place of Gandharvas, was a long strenuous journey. They had to journey through the Garden (a domain which branchedthe human world to the sacred lands). Riya was steadfast, enduring the journey, admiringly so. Yet little did Kairav know, that she was for his sake. Their journey was long, feelings grew. Riya cared for him in a way he would not first think of. He was no longer her curious student, to whom she taught the many ways of humans to. No, she loved him. She would fall asleep, many a night, listening to the entrancing sound of his music. His songs were laced with longing, with love for the wife she knew he was to see soon. Riya admired the man in love, satisfied with her unreciprocated feelings, for it was the love he held for his wife that she fell for.

*However, Kairav returned to find his wife dead. Though there was no proof with a body, others had witnessed her decapitation by the humans. It was a tragic end to her 'fun'. Dhuni had played with too many a human. In her mentally weakened state, it was all too easy for a few humans to mete out their vengeance.

*Kairav didn't cry, even as every brad of grass and tree beheld memories of their union. He only played his music, music heavy laden with sadness. Yet despite all this, he couldn't find a way to blame himself, nor could he blame his wife or the humans. No, he blamed the nature immortality, blamed the cage of duty. It was a double-edged sword. Such things protected them, yet harmed them at the same time. Riya, unlike Kairav, openly wept over Dhuni's passing, despite never having met her. Riya adored Kairav's love for his wife and could not fathom the feelings he must feel. However, there were selfish reasons of course. She had also wept, for she had respected him for providing her a purpose...with Dhuni gone, Riya would no longer be necessary. It pained her to imagine parting with Kairav. She continued to stay by his side in his mourning, and she too mourned with him, mourned for him. Even though Kairav showed little emotion, his music spoke of the pain in his heart, so different from the songs of love and hope he had played during their journey.

*A longer time spent in the same place would lead to his decline, he was aware of that and thus Kairav soon left the sacred realm, with Riya in tow. Upon stepping into the human world, Riya too, died, for it had been many a mortal century they had spent in the sacred realm. Time passed differently for the Gods. Kairav only glanced back, to see that Riya had gone, leaving ashes in her wake. However, compared to his sorrow for Dhuni, Kairav could only feel gratitude for Riya. She had taught him many things, even in her death, she taught him the stark difference between him and mortals such as her. He played a song for her parting, a song that would sing her spirit to rest, a song of her bravery for friending him so.

*Kairav continued his journey, always careful to stay one step away from sanity. He spent little time dwelling on the subject of his wife's passing, even more so as time went on. Every passing year, he would pray for her wellbeing, wishing her well, on the same day, the day of their union. However, with every passing century, the memory grew faint until he could no longer remember. It first began with her dancing. Then, he could no longer remember her face, her smile. Soon, her name followed, fading from his memory, until only an empty space remained, a space filled with the sound of her melodious voice. However too many years had passed, and even with his sharp memory, he had soon forgot the sound of her voice also.
He had experienced much on his travels. He took on many names as one does a mantle, and with them many personas. As time passed, his personality only felt more distant as he became less tolerant of the mortals around him. It had been long since he had last laughed, last flown with the Asparas, a long time since he had played for banquets of Gods. Many experiences ensued, several times he had 'died', suffering injuries that rendered him asleep and recovering for centuries.  He soon found an interest in Ancient Egypt, to their customs, their rituals, their Gods. It soon became his semi-permanent place of residence as he observed them, observed this devoutness that he had failed to see back home.

*Several millennia later, many British archaeologists were interested in Ancient Egypt too. By the time Kairav (now Rafit) returned, he was curious about the pale skinned mortals and tailed them towards Victorian England.

*The city. He was certainly shocked upon setting foot in Victorian London. Where was the sky, the air? He was unable to breathe such indistrial heavy air yet his curiousity held him there. In England, his clothing and skin tone was something seen as a rare-commodity. His appearance certainly helped him garner an audience amongst the upper class. He took it to his advantage, needing some persona as to why he was there. He learnt ways to harness his magic for the beauty of performance and became a magician. To the higher class, he was their 'night-time' secret, who wouldn't pay to see things they could only read about in fantasy stories? Kairav didn't need money, yet the sense of earning was something so...different...human almost. It gave him a purpose, the false sense of surviving. He felt a sense of power, arrogance, as he stunned the numerous onlookers with his illusions. It was in some sense...beautiful. Beautiful, as he pushed, pulled and warped peoples emotions. Their ability to flaunt their emotions, to feel something anew...it was a wondrous sight...and he was envious of them for it.

*Eventually, he came across the Final Circus, a place where he could further show his skills. No longer would he have to perform in once-desolate alleys, in gentleman's clubs and alcoves. He would be granted a grand stage, as well as the opportunity to lean many things from its inhabitants.

◈ A B I L I T I E S :
    p o w e r s :
    • He is immortal though fatal wounds will result in body-trauma where his body will fall into a comatose state for severeal centuries in order to regenerate and heal itself. It is possible for limbs and organs to regrow, often making a dormant Gandharva a riches-filled hunting ground for gravediggers). Constant harm to the body (e.g falling into lazy, buried alive with the lack of oxygen) will lead to a constant state of regeneration and is an equivalence to death unless retrieved. There is also the choice of forcing the body into dormancy, often the choice of many immortals who no longer have the desire to live. Decapitation is the method to once and for all kill him (no one can imagine a regrowing head).
    • His power through music where Rafit can create illusions (and sometimes hallucinations) using sound. Sound can retrieve emotions and images in one's head, something Rafit utilizes in his magic (especially in performances) to harness such experiences and 'share' them with the audience. It is why he hungers for knowledge, the more things he learns of, the more he can 'create'. Hypnosis is also possible, though he will not use it in performances or combat.
    • Gandharvas have the ability to heal others, though it will require varying degrees of power based on the severity of the wound.
    • He has the ability to fly without any form of wings. It was useful in his courtship with Apsaras.

    ◈ s k i l l s :
    • *Acute hearing.
    • *Agile, assisted by his ability to fly/hover.
    • *Skilled with the voice and many instruments (though ones around the Southern Asian, India, to North African continents).
    • *He is skilled with blades (though high chances are he will not use them).
    • *He has an extraordinary auditory memory (but not with faces and names).

◈ W E A K N E S S E S :
  • *He is a fool. His overconfidence and arrogance will lead to him often underestimating many things, people and beings specifically.
  • *His magic is limited specifically to hearing. If you can't hear him, you can't see/feel such illusions.
  • *Likewise, if he is unable to hear you, there will be a 93% chance he will not remember/recognise you.
  • *With his arrogance and curiousity, he knows little of fear and will not express caution.
  • He easily succumbs to small pleasures. In a fight, he can be distracted by things such as an amusing conversation even. Fighting is something he has done for millennia, it is more of a second nature to him...he doesn't see anything amusing or exhilarating about it.
  • *His magic requires time to cast/come into effect.
  • *When angered/in sado-mode, he will lose his rational thinking and awareness of his surroundings.
  • *He lacks a sense of humour and will not understand pranks, jokes and sarcasm.
  • *Technology. The befuddle his poor senile mind.
  • *Ability loopholes (see above - Healing + immortality).

◈  L I K E S :
  • + Beauty - auditory / visual.
  • + Pleasure.
  • + Songs / Poetry / Stories.
  • + Reading / learning new things.
  • + Singing / Performing / Playing Instruments.
  • + Apsaras (since they are basically fated to each other).
  • + Watching people dance.
  • + New experiences.
  • + Sleeping / Lounging / Resting. (rest for the old bonez)
  • + Nature | Flowers | Plants.
  • + Problems / Puzzles / Riddles (things that provide mental stimulation).
  • + Musical accents.
  • + Maturity
  • + He favours sweet things (especially honey).
  • + Pain. "A pleasurable tool to pierce one who has numbed from many centuries of living."

◈  DI S L I K E S :
  • - Uncouth / Disrespectful people.
  • - Being pranked on.
  • - Humans. (He doesn't exactly dislike them, but he does hold some negative opinions/expectations)
  • - Dancing (he leaves that to the Apsaras).
  • - Sailing. (He gets sea sick).
  • - Menial labour.
  • - Shoes | Stockings | Socks - such strange monstrous things.
  • - The modern city.
  • - Technology. (Though it will fascinate him as well as confuse him).
  • - Snakes, especially Nagas (Gandharvas have a natural rivalry to Nagas).
  • - The cold. He's too stubborn to wear 'strange' clothes <<his words.
  • - Loud noises - he has sensitive ears.
  • - Meat. He'd throw it up.

◈  E X T R A :
*He is a small eater and a vegetarian.
*He will always wear a mask for performances.
*He has a nipple piercing in each nipple (bar piercing); a belly piercing with a golden bird claw; R hand - gold bird skull ring on index finger, plain ring on his middle finger, 'coin'(?) ring on his ring finger; L hand - armor ring on his index finger; He has a gold wing tattoo on his back where the ending tips of the wings curl around the front of his hips; two piercings in his right ear (cuff + stud) attached together by a gold chain.
*His favourite colour is gold.
*He doesn't wear shoes or socks.
*He is unable to procreate unless with an Apsara or someone who has Gandharva blood in them.
*He has never had a childhood. Though his form of childhood would be when he was first created.
*Despite his good audio memory, he has trouble remembering faces or names. Often, he will associate people with sounds, situations and often animals (e.g 'little cub, tigress, kitten'). He will commonly use the name 'You' (when I am unable to think of one lol)
*He will often not look at someone whilst talking ...not intending to be rude though. He will be focusing on their voice instead.
*When cold, he will wear robes, honest.
*He has yellow eyes (if the picture isn't clear).
*voice: Okitsu Kazuyuki
*theme songs: [Still Here][Anachronism]
